THE SUNDAY SCHOOL

This is the children’s ministry in the church. Most of its members are children from the age of 4years to around 17 years.
Since its inception, it has seen a steady rise in the number of children who look forward to being part of it every Sunday. The children have also been a blessing to the church, occasionally coming before the church congregation and presenting songs, Bible verses and short plays.
Under the able leadership of Mama Catherine Mukidi, the Sunday School has been able to nurture the children in the church into people who recognize the superiority of God and the importance of salvation through Bible stories and various outdoor activities organized by the church.
Most of the children have also become responsible and now display a sense of respect and obedience to their elders. And we thank God for them.
Jesus said, Let my children come to me, and the Lang’ata Friends Church Sunday school fraternity urges parents to bring their children to church on Sundays. We as a church are praying for this Ministry and believe that God will raise these young soldiers of the Kingdom into a formidable force that preaches His word without fear.

PRAISE AND WORSHIP

When it comes to praising God, we have to give it up for the Praise and Worship team. This team, full of talented young ladies and gentlemen always gives its best during the monthly meeting Sundays, keshas, and all the church functions that they are called upon to participate in.
Last year, the team unveiled a new uniform, which they normally dress in on the Monthly meeting Sunday services. This uniform has enabled them stand out, and it is easy to single out the praisers during these particular services.
They have also been helpful in terms of leading the Morning devotions in church that start from 8am to 9am, just before the start of the normal service. These morning devotions have really picked up, with the worship and Intercessory session being the main factors. The youth in the church are gradually becoming more and more spiritual.
We are looking forward to the gradual growth of the church thanks to this team, and we can only pray that God will continue using them as vessels for His glory.

THE UNITED SOCIETY OF FRIENDS WOMEN (USFW)

“USFW” is the title given to designate the women’s fellowship in Friends Church. History has proved that this is the strongest arm of our church so far. In the monthly meeting, the USFW is under the leadership of Mama Florence Iminza, who is a member of Langata Local Church.
The women in leadership are doing a commendable job, and their roles are very much appreciated by the congregation at large. Most of the cell group leaders come from this arm of the church, which also goes to prove that women are actually a very important group in the society.
In Ongata Rongai Church for example, the USFW has played an active role in the implementation of the cell group policies which outline the roles of the three cell groups in the Rongai Church: Mayor Road, Quarry and Rimplaise Cell groups. The same goes for the other member churches, which are Nairobi West and Lang’ata Local Churches.
Most of all, the USFW seeks to be on the forefront in organizing the women in the church into small groups for the purposes of welfare in their spiritual, social, psychological and family well being.

The main purpose is:
o    Enlist and unite all women in Christian fellowship and service;
o    Work cooperatively with constituent Yearly Meetings, associations, and members-at-large (women who are interested in the goals and works of the organization, but are not members of a local society);
o    Share in the mission of the church everywhere;
o    Stimulate spiritual growth;
o    Cultivate Christian stewardship;
o    Nurture education for mission among Friends of all ages.

THE QUAKER MEN

“Quakermen” is the title given to designate the men in the church. As far as the three local churches are involved, there have not been any major challenges.
There have been some major hallmarks for the group, the most notable one being the official launch of the Quakermen programme in Langata Monthly Meeting which took place last year, 2013, under the able leadership of Josphat Obondo. Since then, the Quakermen have become a tightly knit group. They have been meeting regularly, discussing church issues, and playing roles especially in the development of the church through contributions.
They also portray active participation in the Langata Monthly Meeting Church affairs by attending Fellowships, business meetings, conferences, and even coming together to sing songs infront of the congregation during the Quakermen Sundays.
The sky is definitely not the limit for this arm. They thank God for all that He has helped them achieve so far, and only pray that He will see them even further.
